Creation is a metamorphosis. A transformation from one state of being too another. That is how art is made.
The only way the caterpillar becomes a butterfly is by limiting itself into a condition of constraint. By placing itself into the cocoon. In the cocoon it has no idea what it will look like or become, it merely surrenders itself to the embrace of darkness.
Without the Constraints of its environment the caterpillar can never develop wings…. For the last few years, the Cocoon has been the process I have used to write my stories and create my art.
In September I will be facilitating this process in an online workshop series where each of us will be guided using a spontaneous method of making, to create something unexpected. If you have a desire to birth something, but have no idea what it is, this is the class for you! The only requirement is that you come without ideas, and work with the surprises given to you.
